Welcome to Castello di Papa – a stone house with a soul above Opatija.
Built on the old walls of medieval Veprinac, this house, more than 500 years old, was rescued from oblivion and carefully restored by the owner and local craftsmen using natural materials.
Every detail tells a story, every corner carries emotion.
The house has 4 bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and air conditioning, a spacious living room with fireplace and piano, a modern kitchen and an outdoor summer kitchen with barbecue.
There is also a wellness corner with a private sauna and jacuzzi, a 14-meter heated swimming pool with a view of the sea and Mount Učka, and a 1600 m² Mediterranean garden with lavender, butcher’s broom and aromatic herbs.
In the courtyard you will find a private stone amphitheatre with a statue of great-aunt Anica, a milkmaid who once carried milk to Opatija. The statue is made from century-old cedar.
There is also a bocce court, for those who want to experience the Mediterranean spirit as it once was.
Part of the house is dedicated to a small private museum with family and local history.
Peaceful surroundings, excellent Wi-Fi coverage, privacy and large parking for up to 10 vehicles.
Children’s equipment available upon request (baby cot and high chair).
📍 Located between the churches of St. Mary and St. Anne, where the Glagolitic tradition and local history are still alive.
